Andrew Stewart is the chair of the Fort York Foundation, which is raising awareness and funds for capital renewal at Fort York National Historic Site. Andrew holds a PhD in anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has taught at universities and worked as an archaeological consultant widely in Canada with both government and aboriginal organizations. He recently co-directed excavations at the site of the Fort York Visitor Centre, part of a War of 1812 battlefield and the location where urban Toronto was founded in 1793. The Visitor Centre is scheduled to open in 2014 as part of the revitalization of this 43-acre national historic site.
