Israel’s Consul General keynote speaker at CEMA’s October 1 meeting

The Canadian Ethnic Media Association’s new “Speakers Series” kicks off on Thursday, October 1, at 6:45 p.m. The guest speaker will be DJ Schneeweiss, Israel’s Consul General in Toronto.

Mr. Schneeweiss, who assumed duties in Canada in August 2012, was previously the Director of Civil Society Affairs in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1998 to 2002 he served his first overseas posting as the press secretary at Israel’s London Embassy. Between 2003 and 2006 he was a policy adviser to Israel’s then Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom.

Mr. Schneeweiss was Israel’s Deputy Ambassador to China from 2006 to 2009.

A graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a Master’s degree, he joined Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994, where he later served as a policy assistant to Foreign Ministers Ehud Barak and David Levy.

The CEMA “Speakers Series” is being held at the Rogers Communications Centre at Ryerson University, 80 Gould Street.
