We regret to inform members of the passing of Dr. Wasyl Veryha, who joined the Canadian Ethnic Journalists’ and Writers’ Club (now CEMA) not long after its founding.
Wasyl, who immigrated from his native Ukraine in 1950, enrolled with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Arts and earned his BA in Library Sciences, gaining employment at the University’s library and eventually an appointment as head of the Slavic languages section.
A member of a number of learned societies, he authored several important papers as well as furnishing material to Ukrainian media in Canada.
