Beginning in 2011 and continuing until 2014, The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) will undertake the Interfaith & Belonging initiative, where activities will be developed to promote dialogue and civic engagement between faith based communities. It will be a national project on interfaith cooperation and CEMA has been asked to be a partner in developing this framework.
There will consulations with field experts and community leaders to identify the issues, challenges and opportunities confronting ethnocultural and inter-faith communities. From there a Leadership Circle will be formed to develop and implement community-based initiatives. The overarching discussion will focus on the advancement of Canadian values, citizenship, national identity and civic education. The final component in year three will focus on public awarness and a media campaign. CEMA is a project partner with CRRF on this timely initiative, and we are pleased to be a part of it.
