CEMA member appointed Justice of the Peace

CEMA member Philomen Wright has been appointed Justice of the Peace effective May 30, 2007. This was announced recently by Attorney General Michael Bryant.

Wright most recently served as a member of the Licence Appeal Tribunal of Ontario, conducting quasi-judicial hearings on appeal from various statutes including the Highway Traffic Act and the Motor Vehicles Dealers Act.

She has been a member of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, serving in the Refugee Protection Division and the Immigration Appeal Division. She was a member of the Rent Review Hearings Board of Ontario for 14 years.

Wright was a member of the Ontario Advisory Council on Multiculturalism and Citizenship, the Ontario Council of Regents for Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology and a volunteer member of the governing Board of Trustees of the United Way of Greater Toronto.

The newly-appointed Justice of the Peace is assigned in the Toronto region.
