CEMA was in attendance at the Canadian Journalist for Free Expression (CJFE) 2010 Awards (www.cjfe.org) on November 25, where Canada’s media, business and professional communities gathered in support of journalists who have put their lives at risk in defence of freedom of expression. This years worthy CJFE recipients were Luis Horacio Najero and Emilio Gutierrez Soto from Mexico, and Bibi Ngota, Robert Mintya & Serge Sabouang from Cameroon. CJFE’s work includes management of the global free expression network IFEX, which has over 90 member organizations, advocacy of free expression in Canada and around the world, protection of journalists through its Jounalists in Distress Fund and fellowship programs for jounalists, to name but a few undertakings.
