Contest Starts on Thursday, May 1, 2019 and all entries must be brought to Woodview Park Library by 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2019.
Please give your name, school, grade and contact information to the librarian.The library will give ONE art mat per contestant.
CONTEST RULES
Marks are based on: 50 points for art work, 30 points for essay story and 20 points for oral story. Saturday, September 14, 2019 is the date when the winners will be announced. This is our Red Oak Tree Celebration Day at the Woodview Park Library – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Art Work – 50 points – Subject is A Tree A tree from another country preferably where your family immigrated from before settling in Canada. It can be a heritage tree, a national tree, a favourite tree of your family, a folklore tree, a young tree, an old tree or a tree that does not exist anymore, or whatever you wish. The Art Work must be kept in the boundaries of the art mat, no overlapping. The Art work can be 3D and as much recyclable material to be used as possible for this art work. Essay – 30 points – A Story of Your Tree The story has to be 300 words or less. It can be typed, printed, handwritten, even written calligraphy. Any typos or words spelled incorrectly – 2 points taken off each error. *Oral Story – 20 points Selected contestants based on their art works and essays will do an oral story for the judges on the afternoon of Saturday, September 14, 2019. *These lucky contestants will be notified after September 5, 2019.
