Canadian Journalism for Int’l writers in Canada course info session…

January 26, 2015

Presss Release from Sheridan College:

Ajournalism program at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning will host an information session for prospective students next month.

Oakham House at Ryerson University in Toronto will host the gathering on November 13 so that those interested can learn about the one-year graduate certificate program Canadian Journalism for Internationally Trained Writers. Faculty and staff will be on hand to make brief presentations and answer questions.

Geared toward media professionals who were trained and worked in their homelands before settling in Canada, the unprecedented one-year graduate certificate allows them to upgrade their journalistic skills; learn more about Canadian history, politics and literature; and adapt their experience so that they have a strong advantage in securing a job in the Canadian media.

Students also participate in a work placement in a newsroom in order to gain hands-on experience working side-by-side with Canadian media workers.

Launched in January 2007, Canadian Journalism for Internationally Trained Writers has already proven to be a success. Students have landed jobs working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and The Hamilton Spectator, among other media organizations.
