SPEAKER SERIES: Ontario Media Development Folks with $$$$ ideas

Jennifer Blitz and Manya Rouben of the Ontario Media Development Corp. or OMDC are CEMAs next speakers in our Speaker Series on Thursday, May 3 and for all you out there with media projects, their talk will be chockfull of $$$$$$$$$$$ ideas.

Jennifer Blitz assumed the position of Director of Tax Credits at the Ontario Media Development Corporation in November 2006, having worked at the OMDC since March 2004 as a Team eader in the Tax Credits department. Manya Rouben is Team Leader in the Tax Credits department.

Diaspora Dialogues is once again inviting submissions to its annual publishing/mentoring program from emerging writers of short stories less than 3,000 words in length, plays of any length and/or up to 5 poems, with each poem being no more than 75 lines. Russian youth theatre concert commemorates Victory Day

The Russian Music Drama Youth Theatre will stage a Victory Day drama on Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the Earls Bales Community Centre in Sheppard Park, 4169 Bathurst Street in Toronto.

Dr. Zelina Iskanderova of the RMDYTs Board of Directors, explained that the concert will commemorate the memory of the generation that suffered enormously, but saved the world from fascism.

The RMDYT actors, together with the young students of our Youth Studio Center, RMDYT Founder and Art Director, opera singer and GITIS (Moscow) graduate Nikolai Cherkasov , Music Director of RMDYT, wonderful piano player Andrey Kartuzov, and a beautiful Dancing group Revival prepared a wonderful Concert, that will go in both

English and Russian, Dr. Iskanderova said.

The awards are presented at a glittering evening, taped and broadcast on OMNI-TV. The presentation is followed by a cocktail reception.

Maher ArarTORONTO (April 10, 2007) Journalists and documentary film makers from Canada and over 30 countries will gather in Toronto May 24-27, 2007 for the fourth Global Investigative Journalism Conference to discuss the challenges journalists face doing investigative work and the tools that help them produce their news stories.

To kick off the conference, GIJC welcomes a discussion with Maher Arar (click name to visit his website) was falsely detained, imprisoned, tortured and accused of having links to al-Qaeda.
