Roberto Hausman couldn’t be more pleased with his show, Latin Life TV, whose slogan is “There is more to Latin Life than just Salsa.” The show, which last aired on Rogers, has successfully completed its seventh season and is getting ready for the eighth one starting September 2010. Roberto is the host and producer of Latin Life TV, some of whose content can be viewed on the show’s website.

The show features entertainment, fashion, destinations, food, personalities, Latin music, events, business news and more. Roberto, who is a member of the Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA), is promising us a lot of new Latin excitement for the 2010-2011 season. His show won the best Canadian Latin Show award for two years in a row.

Latin Life TV aired last on Nuevo Mundo Television on Rogers Cable 642 at the following times:  Sunday at 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 12 noon.

Tributes pour in for his single minded devotion to the cause of the ethnic media in Multicultural Canada

Toronto (May 6, 2010) — Ben Viccari, a champion of Canadian multiculturalism, who led the Canadian Ethnic Media Association for 10 years, establishing it as a force to be reckoned with when it came to ethnic media and communications, died early today at the St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto as a result of complications arising from pneumonia. He was 92 and remained an active writer, journalist and broadcaster a year before his death, when his physical condition forced him into retirement. (more…)

The English language version of Georgi Danevski: Confessions of the Heart premieres on OMNI.1, Sunday April 11th at 9:00 p.m. (ET).  Vasil (Bill) Yancoff, 2nd Vice-President of CEMA, produced and directed the 60-minute documentary, which was funded by OMNI’s Independent Producers Initiative.

The film documents the career of Toronto artist Danevski from his childhood in Macedonia to his current status as one of North America’s finest mural artists.

“Bill Yancoff’s documentary showcases a remarkably dedicated individual whose work is widely esteemed and in steady demand,” says Madeline Ziniak, National Vice President of OMNI Television. “We were happy to support the production of Georgi Danevski: Confessions of the Heart for its cross-over appeal to spiritual and aesthetic audiences alike.” (more…)

CEMA members will be saddened to learn of the passing of founder-director Kati Rekai whose amazing career embraced the penning of many articles and novels including the amusing children’s series featuring the almost-human animals, Mickey, Taggy, Puppo and Cica.

Having left her native Budapest at the time of the communist takeover, she, her surgeon husband John, their two daughters and her physician brother-in-law Paul and Paul’s wife were in Paris awaiting a posting to work in Pakistan when they learned the positions had been awarded to others.

Fortunately, a British journalist friend managed to obtain a visa for them to migrate to Canada, where they quickly learned of the hardwork to be undergone in order to qualify as medical professionals inCanada. Kati and her family moved to Kitchener where her husband internedat the Kitchener-Waterloo hospital, and then to Toronto where the two wives helped augment the family finances by picking strawberries.
